Software Review
This section will be about software reviews. Most of the software contained here will be Open Source software and the advantages of using it and comparing it to purchased software.
LogicalDOC (Document Management System)- LogicalDOC seems to be an interesting program that allows you to store documents. It is not open source, however they do offer a community edition. I have not tested the software out myself, but I will soon have a chance to do so. You can check the site out at www.localdoc.com.
Imagneto - Well this software allows you to catch audio and video on the internet. It is available for the Apple Mac. I have not yet tried the software, but thought it was interesting. You can visit the site at http://sourceforge.net/projects/imagneto/. Open Source software.
PowerFolder - Software to sync between computers. It runs on Java, which in my expereience is not all that good. However, I will test and let you all know how well it works. This applicaiton is open Source. http://sourceforge.net/projects/powerfolder-/
Fullsync - This is also another software application that allows you to sync files, even using FTP. It works on the Mac using Java. I have not tested the software, but will try when I have a chance. http://sourceforge.net/projects/fullsync/
OS X Portable Applications - Like windows Operating Systems, you can have portable applications for the mac finally. This application is for Firefox that is portable to a thumbdrive. If you do not want someone to see the sites that you have been too, then this is the application for you. Remember if you use it at a company, they can still see where you go if they have a web filter to track users! http://sourceforge.net/projects/osxportableapps/
InfraRecorder - It is simply that! It allows you to create ISO images of disks, burn cds and copy. I have used this application on PC and it works well. It will not work on Mac's. http://infrarecorder.org/
TinkerTool - This tool allows you to unlock additional tools in the Mac OS X that is not availble to regular users. Check it out here
SoGo - ok I do not post a lot of Open Source Software because well it has to be the best. SOGO allows you to run a calendar and email. it is AJAX based and intergrates with Thunderbird. It does use WebDav and should work with any application that uses this protocol. For example it would work with Apple Ical and the Iphone. Check it out at http://www.scalableogo.org/
